The beauty of Wetumka is that it is a big crowd pleaser. Not too dry, not too sweet. Aromas of green pineapple and lemon verbena, with a crisp finish make it irresistible for sipping alone or with light fare.

Vine Characteristics

Moderate vigor.
Shoots tend to be floppy and better suited to a downward orientation.
Medium sized clusters with medium sized spherical berries.
Berries have bright yellow color.
Fruit ripens unevenly, dropping the ripest berries on the ground with the slightest jolt, deciding harvest time for you.

Winemaker’s Notes

Very high TA, benefits from a small amount of residual sugar.
Bottle ages remarkably.
Deep yellow color.
Intense green pineapple aroma and some tropical aroma in pleasing moderation.
Some parallels can be drawn between Wetumka and a small selection of Melon de Bourgogne produced without lees aging.
