Marguerite

Marguerite

Secundo x Herbemont, TVM 1886

Physiologically, Marguerite is unique. It’s a bit labor-intensive and low-production, but fans of this wine return to it over and over. This wine is wrapped in dense flavors that belie its pale color.

Vine Characteristics

  • The growth on this vine is robust and resistant to mildew, which allows the fruit to hang until the end of the season.

  • Canes are rather “hairy”.

  • Dense canopy.

  • The dark purple, itty-bitty berries, form perfectly shouldered, tiny little clusters.

  • Bears heavily on long arm pruning.

  • Perfect flower.

Winemaker’s Notes

  • Marguerite is adaptive.

  • This red grape can be crushed and pressed immediately to make a white wine or crushed and fermented on skins for a light bodied red.

  • Can be used for blending or will hold its own as a single varietal wine.

  • This tiny but mighty crop has a distinctive and memorable personality.
