Favorite
Lenoir x Herbemont, year unknown
Favorite is a daughter of Lenoir and resembles it a great deal in terms of appearance of both the vine and the fruit. However, it is more disease-resistant, and more productive. That’s why it is called ‘Favorite’, we suppose.
Vine Characteristics
High yielding.
Large, oblong clusters, tiny berries.
Canopy is dense with lots of leaf coverage which, is favorable by this variety as the fruit is in better condition when not exposed.
Winemaker’s Notes
Favorite has the potential for higher sugar and is harvested at a greater brix level than other American varieties.
Deep in color.
Well-balanced tannin, acidity, and body.
