A serious wine—brooding, contemplative, rich with the flavors of forest fruits, as smooth as the water on a windless night.
Vine Characteristics
Light vigor.
Small heart-shaped shield leaves.
Red petioles and shoots that fade from red to green.
Medium size clusters with medium to large berries.
Low Brix accumulation.
Winemaker’s Notes
Deep red pigmentation but without the tannin to maintain it.
Firm acidity and quite fruit-forward, very easy drinking.
High acid, great pH.
Seems to have a polysaccharide or textural component that contributes more weight than expected from lower alcohol content.
