Originally crossed by H.C. Barrett at the University of Illinois, then cultivated at Cornell University.

Vine Characteristics

  • Medium winter hardy.

  • Self-pollinating flowers.

  • Harvest Late August to early September.

  • Superior wine quality and good productivity.

  • Partial resistance to several fungal diseases.

  • Spur pruning.

  • Clusters are shouldered, moderately loose, and medium sized.

  • Two cluster per shoot.

  • Generally has great vine structure.

Winemaker’s Notes

  • Aromatic nose.

  • A champion in the winery.

  • Avoid Malo-lactic fermentation.

  • Mouth feel is crisp with excellent acidity.

  • A great dry wine that offers a bridge to sweeter wine drinkers.
