Developed by J.F. Ravat and originally named Ravat 51. Formerly thought to be a cross between Seibel 6905 and a clone of Pinot Noir known as Pinot de Corton prior to genetic testing.
Vine Characteristics
Moderately vigorous.
Requires a decent amount of airflow and sun exposure when the fruit is ripening.
Small and compact clusters.
Susceptible to rot.
Moderate disease resistance and winter hardiness.
One of the very first grapes harvested—typically Late August.
Winemaker’s Notes
Notable aromatics and balanced acidity.
Known to have a longer finish, with an excellent mouthfeel.
