Developed by J.F. Ravat and originally named Ravat 51. Formerly thought to be a cross between Seibel 6905 and a clone of Pinot Noir known as Pinot de Corton prior to genetic testing.

Vine Characteristics

  • Moderately vigorous.

  • Requires a decent amount of airflow and sun exposure when the fruit is ripening.

  • Small and compact clusters.

  • Susceptible to rot.

  • Moderate disease resistance and winter hardiness.

  • One of the very first grapes harvested—typically Late August.

Winemaker’s Notes

  • Notable aromatics and balanced acidity.

  • Known to have a longer finish, with an excellent mouthfeel.
