Ten Dollar Prize x Norton x Herbemont, TVM 1896
Of all the white Munson varieties, we think this has the greatest potential for a wine of structure and finesse. Our confidence is reinforced by its healthy and generous habit in the vineyard, a true indicator of its robust American lineage.
Vine Characteristics
Vigorous.
Large shield shaped leaves are finely toothed with open petiolar sinus. Leaves have a pastel green-yellow color with red petioles.
Potential to produce three large to very large clusters per shoot.
Berries are perfectly spherical.
The ideal balance of sugar, acidity, and a stable pH is easy to reach with this grape and tend to align naturally with the development of pleasant tropical fruit aromatics.
Over ripe or sun exposed fruit can develop a ‘white grapey’ aroma in the wine.
Winemaker’s Notes
Remarkable undulating acidity.
Natural high resistance to oxidation.
Benefits greatly from the use of pectinase enzyme on fruit, allowing significantly higher press yield and greater aromatic release.
Slight yellow color.
